Hello, dear seeker; thank-you for trusting me to answer this question. As usual, I like to start with something other than what you asked me, and the thing that jumps to my mind is, John isn't with you any more, but you're still with him. Do you see what I mean? Your language conflicts with itself, and evaluation of why you chose the words you did should reveal something to you about the nature of your true feelings.
I gather you'd like John to come back, and although I don't usually see this in the cards, I think he will; however, this doesn't mean you'll get everything you want. John wants to find somebody who will give him love and be concerned with his daily life without critically evaluating why he makes the decisions that he does. He also thinks that he wants to be a nurturing, supporting contributor.
But this isn't what I see him doing. Yes, he wants to be loved by somebody outside of him, but this need for external validation isn't the same as being internally motivated to provide the same in return. Yes, I see John coming back to you, but you need to remember that there's a reason the two of you separated. If you don't identify and resolve what separated you in the past, I guarantee it'll happen again in the future.
