- 12pm-8pm: Store Hours for Walk-in's
TGIF, Sault Ste. Marie! Are you ready for the weekend? Ready or not, it's here anyway, so let's make the most of it! For today's psychic reading, I'm responding an Anonymous Llama who asks,
I used to identify as a Christian,
but now I follow LaVeyan Satanism and call myself a Satanist.
Should I tell my family?

Good morning, Anonymous Llama, and thank-you for trusting me to answer this question for you. To get us started, as is my habit, I'm going to answer your question with another question: What exactly do you hope to gain from such an announcement? At best, nothing will change - presumably, your family loves you just the way you are. But at worst, you could find yourself on the outs with people I assume you love. Think about it.
But to answer your question properly... this religion appears to be very important to you because it gives you a great sense of identity and personal wealth in the meaning that your life feels deeper and more meaningful. And why not? If you've found a way that works well for you, then you should follow that path to whatever ends.
As for your family, though, they're quite attached to their idea of the person you were in the past, and the person they think they know in the present. Unless your relationship with them requires you to take a leadership role in Christian church functions and services, changing this perception will be difficult and problematic.
Assuming you make such an announcement to your family, I predict you'll encounter a mixed bag of results. First and foremost, this announcement will leave you feeling isolated from the rest of the family. Sure, you'll share this information with them, but in what way can you possibly expect them to participate in your newfound path when they share nothing in common with it? I don't think you'll encounter outright criticism, but I do think that you'll find yourself not receiving as many invitations to attend family events. This is no judgement on the path you've chosen for yourself, merely a response from the family to your "I'm a Satanist!" announcement.
My advice to you, as I started with, is " What do you hope to gain from it?" Unless you're just trying to make a point, or you specifically want to get away from involvement in Christian functions and services, I don't think such an announcements helps you in any way.
