Announcements for Tuesday:
- Store Hours: 12pm-8pm
Happy Tuesday, Sault Ste. Marie! Let's get things going with today's free Tarot reading: following the Millennium Clock, today is marked by the union of the 2 and 3 of Hearts who hypothetically reply to the equally hypothetical question:
Are you a pessimist or an optimist?
I don't consider myself a sad or bitter person - I think I enjoy life as much as the next person - but when it comes down to it, I'm a pessimist. I'm just not convinced that the world is full of rainbows and sunshine for everybody. Problems don't solve themselves, and the people who should be solving the problems just aren't doing it. Global warming scares me (and let's face it: if corporations wanted to voluntarily stop polluting the environment, they'd have done it by now.) And so do maniacs with guns (which the politicians just won't do anything to disarm), and also disease (which, let's face it, doesn't become a "real problem" until it starts killing white people.) The best I can do in the face of these massive problems is keep my head down and take care of the people who need me...
... but to take another view of it, I'm certainly not doing anything to fix these problems, either. Yes, I'm only one person, and yes, my protest pales in comparison to opposing corporate dollars and political ineptitude, but there's a lot of other people out there. Something has to be done by somebody, and as long as these problems are already affecting me, it might as well already be me to start. Because, when I think about it, my decision to not do anything is in fact a decisions to support the things I oppose. I guess the next question is, "Where to start?"
