Also, an announcement today: Friday night's members-only Lightworking class is cancelled and there'll be no community Lightworking clinic this Saturday from 2pm to 3pm because the fellow who runs it - yours truly - will be out of the country visiting family. All the scheduled yoga classes will still be happening as planned, Jen will still be available for palm readings, and the store will still be open as planned, but I'm the Tarot reader and the healing-guy, so all Tarot and healing is off the menu until I return on Tuesday. It's only a few days, so I'll see you when I get back!
With that out of the way, let's talk about today's Zodiac rune reading. This being the first time I've brought it up on this blog, let's take a moment to talk about what it is. Runes are best known in the West as the Germanic system of the Elder Futhark runes. This system works well for a lot of people, but using it expertly requires a deep knowledge of Germanic mythology and legends in addition to the meaning of the Futhark runes themselves. Me? I think western astrology is pretty cool, and I'm already more familiar with the mythology and legends surrounding the names of the planets of our Solar System and the signs of the Zodiac than I am with Germanic myth and legend.
So for that reason, I've crafted my own set of runes from Manitoba Maple. With the help of a wood-burning tool, black tea, and some natural wax and oils, I've sanded, polished, burned, stained, and sealed a set of 22 runes using not the language of the Elder Futhark, but that of the western astrology: the 10 signs of the planets and the 12 signs of the Zodiac. Each day that I perform a Zodiac rune reading, I'll select two runes for wisdom and insight to answer the question, "What's happening today?"

Today, the union of Leo and Sagittarius who forecast good fortune, passion, and creativity. Today has the ability to bring great vitality and motivation, and it's also a positive omen for artistic spirits. Or maybe you're trying to solve a problem? If so, today is a great day to find inventive solutions.
However, this isn't to say that today is all rainbows and sunshine. Indeed, two signs of the fire triplicity - Leo and Sagittarius - represent great internal power coupled with the potential for rapid expansion. This suggests that plans set in motion today can spin out of control and consume more time, energy, and resources than you probably intended when you set them in motion.
There is also the warning to avoid setting yourself at the center of attention because this can take the figurative air out of the room and remove the the potential for other personalities beyond your own.
