New Schedule for 2015!

Hi, folks - I told you the changes were coming, and here they are: the new store and class hours for Energy Revived Yoga & Wellness Studio for the calendar year 2015. A reminder that we're currently on holiday break and will remain closed through New Year's Day, but business as usual resumes on 2 January 2015. There are a few new things on the schedule, so let me walk you through them.

First, we now have regular store hours for shopping and walk-in appointments. As the year goes on, I'll use this space to talk about some of the merchandise we really love; highlight some of the cool books in our library that you can check out; and other odds and ends that come periodically come up.

Our new store hours are:
  • Monday: 12pm-3pm
  • Wednesday: 12pm-3pm
  • Saturday: 12pm-3pm
Second, for all our faithful yoga students: we love you bunches, but the schedule has been the same for almost two years and it's time for a change. Jen is still the primary instructor for the yoga classes, although I (her loving and dutiful spouse, James) often pick up the Saturday morning class so she can sleep in. Membership and class prices are staying the same this year - still $40 per month and $10 per class, respectively.

This is the new schedule for yoga classes:
  • Monday: 10.30am-11.30am
  • Wednesday: 10.30am-11.30am; 7pm-8pm
  • Saturday: 11am-12pm
Third, a brand-new addition to the studio and the class schedule is qi-gong, which will be led by me personally (James). For those who haven't heard of it, qi-gong (pronounced chee-gong) is the art and practice of stimulating and moving vital energy within the body. The style of qi-gong I practice is a static, hard, internal style. It is static, which means you stay in the same place where you began the class (no walking around as in tai-chi). It is hard, which means it draws on the hard-style striking movements of karate and taekwondo as opposed to the circular, flowing movements of judo or tai-chi. And finally, it is an internal, which means you'll learn a combination of breathing routines, muscle control, and energetic practices to improve health and vitality. The techniques you'll practice during the class have very real and very effective applications, but this class is hands-off and focuses on defeating oneself instead of a physical opponent. There is only one qi-gong class on the schedule right now, and more will be added as the demand presents itself. The qi-gong class requires no uniforms or special equipment, and it costs the same as the yoga classes: $10 per class, or included in your existing monthly membership.

Qi-gong classes are on:
  • Mondays: 7pm-8pm
Fourth, another brand-new addition to the schedule is the weekly Reiki circle. This is a project that I personally have wanted to start for a long time, but the schedule has never worked out very well. So I'm very happy that it's finally come to pass! Anybody is welcome to participate, even folks with no experience who might just be curious to try something new and learn more about alternative spiritual practices and meditative ways. There's no fee, but I do ask all participants to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Salvation Army's local food bank. All Reiki traditions, healers, and lightworkers are welcome to attend! Each meeting includes a short period for meditation and reflection before finishing with a group healing session.

Reiki circles are on:
  • Friday: 6.30pm-7.30pm
    • No experience necessary to participate. All Reiki, healing, and lightworking traditions are welcomed. Please bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Salvation Army's Food Bank.
    • Private sessions, certification, and attunements are available by appointment.
All these changes are reflected on the updated schedule linked at the top of the page, and as always feel free to call us almost any time if you have questions about what's happening or what you'll need to participate in any of the classes!

James & Jen
