For today's Tarot meditation, I'm examining the following combination:
Tower + 9 of Pentacles: The world is both exactly as it seems and not at all what it seems. It's wise to make decisions based on existing patterns, but at the same time, it's wrong to delay wealth and physical happiness based on lies and illusions given to you by others.
How can we apply this to the real world?
The top headlines in the news today for Ontario is the story of Canadian permanent resident turned citizen Dror Bar-Natan who has pushed back against the portions of the oath of citizenship in which he swears allegiance to the Queen of England as a condition of his citizenship. This subject is rather close to my heart because I myself am an ex-patriot and permanent resident in Canada.
Now, I apologize if some of you have your own warm spot in your own hearts for the royal family, but the man makes a point: What does his citizenship in Canada have to do with supporting a monarch in the United Kingdom? I understand that the commonwealth is a political and commercial bloc that helps promote and protect the interests of its members, but why does this necessitate an oath of obedience to a foreign monarchy?
Mr. Bar-Natan was opposed to this illusion of control and authority being placed over him - even if the oath is "merely symbolic" - and he formally renounced the portion of his oath of citizenship that bound him to the monarchy. In the sense of today's Tarot meditation, congratulations to him not just for recognizing the deceit put over him by the powers that be, but also for not letting that delay his sense of personal authority and satisfaction. Not a lot of divination to be done in today's meditation, but certainly a lot of advice to open your eyes and look at the un-realities around you.
