I've spent the last 27 months manifesting a particular desire,
but I still haven't achieved it. Try as I might, it gets no closer.
Why is this?

Hello, anonymous seeker! What an interesting question. Manifestation, conjuring, law of attraction, or whatever name you choose to give it is a fickle thing. I usually start each of these readings with a question of my own, but in this case, the cards and my personal opinion agree.
Your manifestation is just out of your reach and has failed to physically materialize because you've spent so much time making it real in your own mind that the universe, powers-that-be, or whatever other name you give to it thinks you've already attained what you want. I know that sounds a little silly, but follow me on this: if your system of manifestation (probably closely related to the law of attraction) instructs you to make the thing real in your mind; and if you accept that the universe and everything that can be known and perceived is mind; and if this manifestation is already real in your mind; then don't you already have it?
The reason I bring this up is because I read from a well-known occultist (I'll give you the name later, but only if you're truly interested in the source) said that such things are appropriate during the conjuring of the thing you want, but after the principal deed is done, you must the thing you want entirely out of your mind. Why? Because after you use your ritual or meditation to create the thing you desire, and then you push it away from yourself, this "empty" space you make in your mind creates a vacuum that pulls the object of your desires back to you. It sounds counter-intuitive, but is in fact an expert application of the Hermetic Law of Polarity.
Think about it.
