Happy Saturday, Sault Ste. Marie! For today's Tarot card reading, I'm responding to an anonymous seeker who asks,
For a long time I've felt overwhelmed with anxiety and nervous energy. I can't seem to focus. I've seen head shrinks, gotten color therapy, consulted astrologers, and more, but I can't seem to figure it out. What's the scoop?

The scoop, dear seeker, is that there's somebody or something you've been ignoring. This could be a relationship with somebody else, but with the tone of this message, I think it has a lot more to do with yourself. You'll notice right off that we've got two trumps here - the Sun and the Devil - in the position of your habits and desires, so this is another way of saying that you're putting too much on yourself and are excessively preoccupied with what's happening around other people. Also, the Sun and Devil being what they are in the three-fold layering of the trumps, you're chasing affairs of the lowest order at the expense of recognizing your own part in these situations.

Your habits show that you're putting too much trust in others for your own safety and well-being. Disabuse yourself of naive notions that the world is as nice and pretty of a place as you'd like it to be. Certainly these kinds of moments and experiences exist, but the Sun is an exercise in willful optimism and, in its way, deliberate ignorance. Be careful that you're not leaving anything out.

As for your desires, feel free to tell me I'm wrong - I promise it won't hurt my feelings - but you are far too interested in the drama and troubles of other people. This does nothing to serve you. You opened this question with a description about yourself and your own stresses, but could you imagine that you're excessively identifying with others' problems and instability, and this upsets your own sense of balance and equilibrium? Think about it.

As for your needs in this reading, which I'm inclined to think that you're either ignoring or haven't even noticed because of your preoccupation with other affairs, you need to be kind and generous to yourself. Invest in your relationship with yourself. I know this sounds a little wonky, but if you consider that your time, energy, and attention are all directed into a relationship with things outside of yourself, I think you'll find better results when you turn it back into yourself. Trust that you're capable, and also trust nobody to look out for you. If you trust in yourself and are responsible to yourself, I think you'll experience less anxiety because you won't be depending on anybody else to provide the same.
